Sepp Hasselberger has alerted me to an important article on Robin Good's site: The Network Second Layer: RSS Newsmastering. The article discusses the use of rss to create portal websites for particular interests.

This second layer of the internet notion is akin to the annotated web idea laid out in a previous article.

Yeah, important principle, I think. There so much stuff out there that the next frontier becomes people organizing it, rating it, annotating it, etc. In a somewhat more organized manner than simply linking to what one likes.
